NACOGDOCHES—The following local students received degrees from Stephen F. Austin State University during May commencement exercises:

Local students make Oregon St. honor list
CORVALLIS, OR.—Two area students have been named to the Oregon State University Scholastic Honor Roll for the Spring 2013 semester.
Those students were Landon P. Falke and Robyn L. Jost, both of Thorndale. Both carried a 3.5 GPA or better during the semester and were enrolled in at least 12 graded hours of course work.
Falke is a junior Biology major and Jost is a junior Pre-Interiors major.
Iselt awarded Baylor Merit Scholarship
WACO—Baylor University has announced recent high school graduates who are recipients of scholastic awards based on class rank and/or SAT/ACT scores for the 2013-2014 academic year.
Chelsey Iselt, of Lexington, has been awarded a Baylor University Provost’s Gold scholarship.
Inocencio named to KU spring honor roll
LAWRENCE, KS.—Natalia Inocencio, of Thorndale has been awarded the University of Kansas honor roll distinction for the spring 2013 semester.
Inocencio is a junior studying history. She was named to the honor roll for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
Area residents named to SFA President’s list
NACOGDOCHES—Two area residents were named to the Stephen F. Austin State University President’s List for the Spring 2013 semester.
Those students were Sylvia Torres, of Thorndale and Emily Surovik, of Caldwell.
Torres is an Art major and Surovik is a Health Science major.
Rockdale summer band practice starts Aug. 1
Rockdale ISD director of bands Adrian Acevedo has announced the schedules for summer band practice that is set to start on Aug. 1.
Those attending should bring instrument, supplies (valve oil, reeds, etc.), music f lip-folder and lyre, ball cap, sunglasses, light-colored clothing, low-top tennis shoes (no sandals), sunscreen and water, Acevedo said.
On Aug. 1-2, freshmen, leadership team, color guard and percussion will meet at the band hall from 8:30-11:30 a.m.
On Aug. 5-9, full band rehearsal will be held from 8:30-11:30 a.m., followed by sectionals for brass and woodwinds from 12:30-1:30 p.m. and sectionals for color guard and percussion from 1:30-2:30 p.m.
The group will follow that same schedule the week of Aug. 12-16.
The week of Aug. 19-22, the band will have evening practices from 5-7 p.m.
There will be a parents meeting for band members at 6 p.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at the band hall.
RHS cheerleaders set rah-rah mini camp
Rockdale High School varsity cheerleaders will hold their annual Rah-Rah Mini Cheer Camp from 9-11 a.m. Aug. 12-14 at the RHS Gym, according to spokesperson Tina Barcak.
The camp is for Pre-K through sixth graders, cost is $30 per child and will include a T-shirt and pre- game per formance during the upcoming Tiger football season.
Parent performance will be held at 11 a.m. Aug. 14.

Thorndale cheerleaders offering mini camp
THORNDALE—The Thorndale cheerleaders will hold a Little Bulldog Cheer Camp on July 29-31 at the Thorndale Middle School gym.
Spokesperson Heather Lamia said that the camp’s proceeds are to raise money for Varsity Camp and cheer supplies.
