Brown Santa golf tourney set Saturday

It’s July, so it’s time to think about Christmas.

The Milam County Sheriff’s Department annual Brown Santa Golf Tourney is scheduled Saturday at the Cameron Country Club, the main fund-raising event for the annual program that provides toys for needy children. The tourney, sponsored by the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, is set for Saturday, at the Cameron Country Club.

While the deadline to sign up was technically Monday, golfers can still sign up until Saturday. Cost is $50 per person and includes green fees, a goody bag and snacks.

Golfers can call Deputy John Mendoza at 254-627- 1270 or Wynema Adams at the Milam County Sheriff’s Department, 254-697- 7033.

The tourney is also accepting hole sponsorships at $100 per hole.

Format will be a fiveman scramble but those without teams will be assigned to one.

There’s a “golf ball drop” from a helicopter to win a TaylorMade driver.

There will be two shotgun starts on at 8:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.
