Second reading okayed on Cameo

The owner of the fall-damaged Cameo building downtown now has a schedule to follow in her quest to restore the structure.

City council members, meeting Monday in a called-workshop session, gave second reading approval to an ordinance setting out a schedule for owner Gloria Thrasher.

The ordinance, which was okayed on a first reading July 8, calls on Thrasher to reinforce parapet walls within 14 days, brace outside walls within 21 days and secure the building and present a restoration plan within 60 days. Failure to meet a deadline would trigger an order to raze the building within 90 days.
