A settlement over taxable values at the Sandow 5 Power Plans was the major factor in dropping certified values for the Rockdale School District by 10.6 percent.

Chief Appraisal Pat Moraw of the Milam Appraisal District (AD) released the certified values to Milam County's taxing entities Friday afternoon.

She said values in the Rockdale ISD dropped by $109,840,953 compared to last year.

"Part of the decrease in value is attributable to a new pollution control exemption of $38,373,100, which was granted by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality," she said.

In anticipation of a decrease in values, the Rockdale ISD has been figuring its 2013-14 budget based on an increase to $1.2751 from the current $1.2384, although the final rate has yet to be determined.

Decrease for Milam County, the other entity affected by Luminant valuations, was put at $81,900,122 (4.62 percent).
