Place of Hope events Wednesday and Saturday at Rising Star Baptist
Rising Star Baptist Church will host a presentation by Place of Hope at 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, according to Jo Ann Bradford, church publicist.
“ Place of Hope is a non- profit, non- denominational Pregnancy Resource Center, located at 231 E. Cameron Avenue in Rockdale,” Bradford said. “The Place of Hope mission is to demonstrate and share the life-changing message of Jesus Christ by providing practical help and loving support to those facing an unplanned pregnancy.”
All adults in community are encouraged to attend, Bradford said.
On Saturday, Aug. 3 at 4 p.m. there will be a Place of Hope presentation for teen girls and their parents. All teen girls and parents of the community are invited. This program will be held at RSBC fellowship hall.

Wallace Family, fish fry at Gause Full Gospel
GAUSE—A free fish fry and a gospel concert are set for Sunday, July 28 at Gause Full Gospel Church, US 79 East, according to pastors Jerry and Linda Burns.

Methodists, Lutherans to hold VBS Aug. 5-7
St. John’s United Methodist Church and Peace Lutheran Church will co-host Vacation Bible School with the theme: “Everywhere Fun Fair—Where God’s World Comes Together.”
VBS will be held at St. John’s on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 5-7, from 5:30 until 8 p.m. and is open to children age 3 years through 5th grade. All children in the area are invited. A snack supper will be served each evening.

‘Carrying the Cross’ event set here Aug. 11
“Carrying the Cross—Join in Unison for Christ” will be held Sunday, Aug. 11, beginning in downtown Rockdale at the former Rockdale Ford location (across Cameron Avenue from The Rockdale Reporter).
The event will assemble at that location at 2 p.m. and walk to Fair Park, according to John Krause, publicist. There will be water provided along the walk.
The walk will be followed by praise and worship at Fair Park, Krause said. FMI: 512-446-4201.
Next men’s breakfast at St. John’s UMC
An ecumenical monthly men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 until 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, the site rotating between several local churches.
Next breakfast will be on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at St. John’s United Methodist Church. “Purpose is Christian fellowship and all men of the Rockdale area are invited,” said Bill Avrett, spokesman.

‘Little blessings’ fund-raiser planned
THORNDALE— Prizes have been announced for a “Little Blessings” fund-raiser benefiting the St. Paul Lutheran School in Thorndale. Prizes will be awarded at the annual fund-raiser Saturday, Oct. 26 at Fireman’s Hall.
Tickets to the fund-raiser are $100 each and entitle the buyer and a guest to a catered chicken fried steak meal and a chance to win the following:
• Camouflage Kubota RTV 400 ($9,000 value.
• 5-by-10-foot utility trailer ($1,500 value).
• $500 Visa gift card.
Only 200 of the $100 tickets will be sold. Also available are $25 “meal and dance only” tickets. Holders of the $25 tickets will be able to bid on auction items.
The Oct. 26 fund-raiser schedule: 5 p.m., registration and social hour; 6 p.m. meal; 7 p.m. drawing, live auction and dance.
