City of Thorndale fires police chief in 4-1 split vote


Keefer Keefer The City of Thorndale is looking for a new police chief after Fred Keefer, who has held the posi t ion for nine years, was fired Tuesday.

Council members voted 4-1 to terminate Keefer following a public hearing in which several residents spoke in his behalf, saying the police chief inspired trust in the community.

Voting in favor of the termination were council members Stephanie Churchman, Don Culp, Sam Pickett and Gerald Niemtschk. George Galbreath voted against.

At the conclusion of the meeting Ofc. Wade Boedeker also apparently resigned, administrator Keith Kiesling said. That leaves the city currently with only one officer, Michael Moehling.
