RJH band gets third in state Outstanding Performance Series

Rockdale Junior High band’s recordings of “Two Marches for America” and Serengeti Dreams” have placed in the state level of the Association of Texas Small School Bands ( ATSSB) Outstanding Performance Series, according to RISD director of bands Adrian Acevedo.

The State OPS hearings took place on Sunday at the Texas Bandmasters Association’s Convention in San Antonio.

In the Class C Middle School concert selection, RJH’s “Serengeti Dreams” placed third. It finished behind winners Littlefield and West Rusk.

In the Class C Middle School March, RJH’s “ Two Marches for America” was 10th overall. Littlefield took top honors in that category as well.

“Our RJH band’s recordings had a great run for Rockdale. We are very proud of our students for putting on a great performance for these recordings and third place at state is definitely something to be proud of. Our bands are in great company,” Acevedo said.
