Gause area mobile home ‘total loss’ in fire
GAUSE— A Gause family’s mobile home was a total loss after a major fire on Friday evening that drew volunteer firefighters from four departments in Milam and Robertson counties.
Gause Volunteer Fire Department chief Debbie Todd said that the initial 911 call came in around 6 p.m. Friday and volunteers battled the blaze well into the early morning hours. Full Story
Police seeking 17-year-old fugitive
Rockdale police are seeking 17-year- old Lequinn Nequiece Davis, who is wanted on a burglary of a habitation warrant.
Lt. J. D. Newlin said a 15-yearold juvenile male is already in custody in connection with the same incident. Full Story

Report from the Texas Silver-Haired Legislature
Silver-Haired legislators from across Texas convened in Austin July 14-18, for the initial meeting of the 15th Texas Silver-Haired Legislature (TSHL).
Of the 105 legislators attending, , one-third are new members, elected as representatives from among the 28 Texas Area Agencies on Aging serving the state’s seniors. Full Story
Luminant values awaited
Apparently, an agreement has been reached between Luminant and the Appraisal Review Board (ARB) of the Milam Appraisal District (AD).
Details of the agreement haven’t yet been announced by either party but Marla Wallace, chief financial officer for the Rockdale ISD, said she had been advised there has been an agreement. Full Story

CAMERON— With over 140 golfers, the 3rd annual Milam County Sherrif’s Office Brown Santa Golf Tournament raised thousands of dollars for the program. The top three finishing teams at Cameron Country Club were: 1st place—Justin Tucker, Tara Cryer, Keith Kuzel, Dustin Bailey, Randy Lafferty. 2nd place—Mike Baca, Robert Hudson, Al Heft, James Hudson, Gary Thweatt.
