Funeral services for Ralph E. Leech, 82, a lifelong resident of Rockdale, were held Monday, July 22, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale with burial following with military honors in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale. Pastor Greg Spears of Milam County Cowboy Church officiated.
Mr. Leech died Ralph Thursday, July 18, at his home near Rockdale.
He was born Sept. 11, 1930, in Rockdale to Robert Earl and Annette Elizabeth (Laird) Leech.
He was a 1948 graduate of Rockdale High School.
After graduation, Mr. Leech served in the U.S. Navy on an aircraft carrier during the Korean Conf lict from October 1948 to October 1952.
He worked as a field supervisor for Industrial Generating Company in Rockdale, retiring after 35 years.
Mr. Leech was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, Rockdale VFW Post No. 6525, American Legion, Southwest Texas Cattle Raiser’s Association, American Quarter Horse Association and Rockdale Fair Association.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Dr. Robert Milton Leech, John T. Leech and Frank Darrell Leech.
Survivors are five children, Randy Leech and wife Shellie of Gainesville, Ronnye Leech and wife Dawn, Kevin Leech and wife Kerri, Annette Ballew and husband Kelly, all of Rockdale, Brett Leech and wife Melissa of St. Catherines, Ontario; 12 grandchildren, Ryan Leech, Lindsey Leech and Kelis Secrest, all of Austin, Logan Leech of Temple, Braden Leech, Emory Vincent, Jordan Vincent and Keilee McKeehan, all of Rockdale, Graycen Leech, Shelby Potter and Savannah Leech, all of St. Catherines, Ontario, Garrett Prelle of Gainesville.
Pallbearers were Ryan Leech, Emory Vincent, Braden Leech, Britt Schnerr, Jason Worley, Tracey Ingram and Randy Mayfield.
Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Whiteley, Clifford Simms and Kelley Blackburn.
