Genealogy event Saturday at city library

The Lucy Hill Patterson Memorial Library will host a genealogy workshop with professional genealogist Lynna Kay Shuffield from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday.

Donations are $5 and lunch will be provided.

Subjects covered will include 20th Century military and war dead research, Texas War of Independence research and scrapbooking your family history.

Wounded warriors will be honored

A fund-raising barbecue for the Wounded Warrior project, which assists severely-wounded military personnel, is set for Saturday at Tonkawa Cycles in downtown Rockdale at 115 West Cameron (US 79).

Plates, priced at $5 each, will be sold from “9 a.m. until done.” Plates will also be sold to go.

There will also be “take a chance” drawings with instant winners.
