Five persons draw district court terms

Five cases were disposed of during the past week in 20th District Court, according to Prosecutors Bill Torrey and John Paschall who listed case dispositions as follows:

• Leland Edw in Lyles, 64, Cameron, pleaded gui lty to attempted aggravated sexual assault and will be sentenced by Judge John Youngblood at 9 a.m. Aug. 28. Torrey said sentencing will be after a hearing which will include the results of a presentencing investigation and witnesses for both the defense and prosecution. Sentencing range will be between 2 to 10 years in prison.

• Korey James Boothe, 24, Thorndale, pleaded guilty to intoxication assault earlier this year and was sentenced to a 10-year prison term with the court to consider “shock probation.”

• Melvin Gerhardt Miller Jr., 33, Rockdale, pleaded guilty to a lesser included Class A misdemeanor, attempted debit card abuse, one year deferred adjudication probation, $750 fine, $521 restitution.

• Edwin Williams, 63, Rockdale, pleaded guilty to a lesser included Class A misdemeanor, criminal trespass, oneyear county jail term.
