Stigler

Funeral services for James C. Stigler, 62, were held Friday, July 26, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial with military honors was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Pastor Jimmy Hinistroza officiated.

Mr. Stigler died Monday, July 22, at Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born April 16, 1951, in Austin to Howard Elmer and Pearl Inez (Mullins) Stigler.

Mr. Stigler lived in Marble Falls through his elementary school years and was raised in Lake Travis.

After he graduated high school, he moved to Rockdale in 1970.

He married Deborah Jane Jones on March 12, 1971, in Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale.

Almost two weeks later, Mr. Stigler entered into the U.S. Army.

After his honorable discharge, he worked as a railroad conductor for Santa Fe Railroad, Amtrak and Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad. He retired in 2002.

Mr. Stigler was a member of Rockdale Historical Society.

He enjoyed fishing, watching sports and NASCAR and working in the yard.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Debby, on Oct. 4, 2008, and his parents.

Survivors are a son, Jeremy Stigler and Angel of Rockdale; a daughter, Abby Rubio and husband Jay of Rockdale; two brothers, David Yuergens and wife Linda of Marble Falls, Don Stigler and wife Debbie of Pflugerville; six grandchildren, Jagger Rubio, Maddox Rubio, Calli Pipkin, Kayla Salazar, Tori Drummond and Brent Drummond; his mother-in-law, Helen Jones of Rockdale; and a sister-in-law, Brenda Skrhak of Rockdale.

Pallbearers were James Powell, Gary Powell, Bert Dockall, Doc Eanes, Michael Skrhak and Chris Chromcak.
