Two draw charges in ‘home invasion’

Two Cameron men have been arrested in connection with what police in that city are terming a “home invasion” in that city Friday afternoon.

Billy Joe Pittman Jr., 28, and Alvin Dejuan Melton, 30, were both charged with aggravated robbery and unlawful restraint.

Pittman was also charged with interfering with an emergency call with previous conviction. He remains in the county jail in lieu of $115,000 bond.

Melton remained incarcerated on $105,000 bond.

Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said a legally handicapped woman reported two men had forced their way into her residence, stopped her from making a 911 call and took items from the house.

CATTLE THEFT—William J. (Jim) Crenan, 55, of Cameron was arrested Thursday on felony cattle theft charges. He is suspected of stealing 100 head of cattle from an El Paso rancher who was leasing pasture and care from Crenan.

Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association Special Rangers Hal Dumas and Marvin Wills investigated the case.

According to Dumas, the victim had been leasing pasture from Crenan since 2008. The thefts occurred during that fiveyear time frame.
