Beer bust

Actually hardly any of it “busted” at 7:31 a.m. Thursday when this truck rig hauling bottles and kegs of Shiner beer flipped onto its side at the US 77-79 overpass at the eastern city limits. Driver Colin Pusley of Cuero was not injured, according to police who said the north-bound 18-wheeler veered off the highway, took out several feet of guard rail and spilled its sudsy cargo down a hillside. At upper right, Ofc. Tommy Shriver and big rig wrecker expert Ron McCoy of McCoy Trucking survey the magnitude of the job ahead. Shiner sent two trucks from Austin to load the cargo of Shiner Bock and haul it away. The Rockdale VFD also responded to the scene. Vehicle damages were termed extensive. The rig was a Volvo tractor pulling a Penske leased trailer. Police said the driver went to sleep.
