Are you a nature lover? Do you want to learn from experts and participate in educational training, exciting field trips, conservation efforts and much more with others who have a similar love of nature? If yes, then this is for you. Education and fun is guaranteed.

The El Camino Real Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists (right here in Milam County) is planning a training class for new members this Fall starting on Oct. 4 and ending Feb. 7, with a break for Thanksgiving and a longer break for the Christmas holidays. The classes will be scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays in Milano, with a few field trips. Some of these field trips may take place on a Saturday morning.

We are very excited to be able to offer a new training class with presentations from experts in various fields of science, Don Travis, spokesperson said.

For example, there will be classes on entomology (insects), herpetology (reptiles), plants and ornithology (birds) to name just a few. Procedures and forms to sign up are at or available from the AgriLife Extension Office, 100 E. 1st St. in Cameron.

4-H Fall Playday Series in Lee County scheduled

The Lee County Texas Stars 4-H Horse Club will kick of f its fall playday series on Aug. 24 at the American Legion Memorial Arena in Lexington, according to Patty Schulze, spokesperson.

The upcoming series dates are Saturdays Aug. 24, Sept. 14, Sept. 28, Oct. 12, Oct. 26, Nov. 9 with weather dates Nov. 16 and 23. Signup starts at 3 p.m. and events start at 4 p.m. The cost for each playday will be $30.

If you enroll as a member of the LCTS 4-H Horse Club for the 2012- 13 4-H year each playday will be $25, proof of enrollment is required. Enrollments are completed on-line through Texas 4-H Connect at: http:// Event exhibitions will be $4 each.

Riders must attend four of the six playdays to qualify for the series. Events this year will only be three ( poles, straights, barrels). Rider classes are Lead Line (3- 6), 8 & under, 9-11, 12-15, 16-19 and 20+.

Rules follow 4- H horse shows. Negative Coggins proof is required, no exceptions. For more information see
