Local girl competes for ‘American Miss’ title


Kocian Kocian DALLAS— Clarice Kocian, daughter of Larry and Cherie Kocian, was selected as a state finalist in the National American Miss Pageant, recently held in Dallas.

National American Miss is a natura l pageant where young ladies are required to be natural in appearance and age appropriate in all areas.

They are judged on interview skills, public speaking, formal wear, academics and community involvement.

Clarice was escorted by her father, Larry Kocian, during the formal wear competition, where he presented her with a bouquet of roses.

Her participation included the talent competition, where she sang “Jesus You Are My Best Friend”.

She also competed in the runway modeling competition where she modeled her outfit called “American Beauty”, a tribute to all who help keep our American freedoms.

Other areas in which she competed in were photogenic and an art contest. Contestants were able to create a collage that represented their spirit.

Clarice’s collage consisted of an American flag, a softball, a microphone and a beach scene.

Her participation in the pageant was sponsored by family and friends.
