Reporter/Bill Martin Unable to build any momentum in the early going, the Rockdale Lady Tigers rallied late, only to fall to Thrall 25-8, 25-11, 25-20 at Tiger Gymnasium Tuesday night.

The Lady Tigers fall to 3-5 on the season with the loss.

Middle blocker Shelby Evans struck for seven digs and five kills, while Joli Carpenter added six assists and five digs.

Keilee McKeehan carved out six digs and two service aces and Samantha Muston and Dae Dae Robertson hammered out three kills apiece.

The Lady Tigers produced a season-low 30 percent in the attack department and had just 11 assists.

Copperas Cove Tournament

The Lady Tigers went 3-3 in the Copperas Cove Tournament, defeating Troy twice and Taylor once.

Rockdale opened the tournament with a 25-19, 25-23 loss to Harper.

Evans paved the way with eight kills, eight digs and two blocks. Morgan Laughlin recorded nine digs, while Boyd served up eight assists.

The Lady Tigers chalked up their first victory of the 2013 season, 25-7, 25-13 over Troy.

Evans banged out 10 kills, four digs and three blocks, while Boyd set up 12 assists and six digs.

Rockdale made it two straight with a 14-25, 25-14, 25-12 comeback win over District 18-3A mate Taylor.

Evans pounded out 11 kills and posted 10 blocks. Laughlin had 10 digs and five kills, Robertson six kills and four blocks, while Boyd chipped in 12 assists, six digs and two service aces.

Emily McCoy and McKeehan added 10 digs each.

The Lady Tigers then dropped a hard fought set to host Copperas Cove, 25-20, 22-25, 25-14.

Evans popped off 10 kills and seven blocks with two aces.

Boyd set up 13 assists and nine digs, while Laughlin had 11 digs.

Rockdale got back on track with a 25-21, 24-26, 25-22 victory over Troy.

In an active game, Evans dug up 17 shots, 14 kills and stopped four shots.

Laughlin recorded 18 digs, eight kills and two service aces.

Rober tson added 10 k ills, Boyd 13 assists and two aces and McCoy 12 digs.

In their final tourney match, the Lady Tigers were tripped up by Plainview 25-23, 25-10.

Evans led the way with seven kills and three digs and Carpenter contributed six assists.

Cedar Creek Tournament

The Lady Tigers will participate in the 21-team Bastrop Cedar Creek Tournament Thursday through Saturday.

Rockda le opens pool play Thursday at 4 p.m. against Victoria East, then battles Smithville at 5 p.m. and Stockdale at 7 p.m.

On Friday, the Lady Tigers take on Thrall at 5 p.m. and Killeen at 7 p.m.

Championship play begins Saturday at 9 a.m.
