TAKS exit level retest scheduled Oct. 21-24

Rockdale High School will offer the TAKS Exit Level Exams in October 2013 for out-of-school (OOS) examinees. Tests dates are Oct. 21 (ELA), Oct. 22 (Math), Oct. 23 (Science) and Oct. 24 (Social Studies), according to RISD testing coordinator Lynette Guerra.

Individuals who are no longer enrolled in school and who have not previously met minimum expectations on all sections of the TAKS test, but who have met all other graduation requirements, may register to retake the necessary sections(s). All out-of-school TAKS examinees must complete an online registration process. Register online at http://www.TexasAssessment.com/TAKSoos. Register until 5 p.m. Sept. 13.

Examinees may also register the day of the test. All out-of-school TAKS examinees should notify the high school counselors of their intent to test at 512-430-6140.

On the day(s) of testing, examinees should arrive by 8 a.m. and report to the high school office. Examinees must present picture identification, such as a driver’s license, school ID, DPS ID, etc. to test. Examinees will not be able to take the test(s) without a picture ID.

RISD mandatory substitute training

A mandatory training for all new and returning RISD substitute teachers will be held from 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 12 at the Rockdale ISD Conference Room. This training will include processes for the new automated substitute service Rockdale ISD is implementing this year.

Individuals interested in becoming substitute teachers must attend this training in order to qualify for the substitute list. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and provide consent to a criminal background check. Substitute applications can be picked up at the RISD Central Office prior to the training.
