Rockdale FFA to host first meeting of new year

Rockdale FFA is kicking off their annual meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, according to chapter reporter Madison Reynolds. The FFA will be serving fajitas. All current and interested FFA members are advised to come and bring their parents. The FFA officers would also like to invite community members.

Thorndale Ag Boosters announce Sept. winners

THORNDALE—The Thorndale 4-H/FFA Booster Club announced the September winners for its monthly gun chance drawing, according to Rebecca Garcia, spokesperson.

Winners for September were: Duane Jones, Jack Hilliard, Cody Fowler, Chad Upham and Clifford Garner.

“The Thorndale 4-H/FFA Booster Club would like to thank the community for always supporting our youth,” said Garcia.

Schneider team roping, cookoff set for Oct. 5-6

The 17th annual Maggie Schneider Memorial Scholarship Team Roping will be held Oct. 5-6 at the Lightsey Covered Arena in Caldwell, according to organizer Richard Schneider.

Saturday roping will start at 9 a.m. with #15 four for $200 with the draw option available. Pay back is 80 percent with adding $3,000 in #15. Followed by #13 and #11 ropings (four for $50). They will be run together with separate shot goes. Saddles will go to the high point header and heeler of each roping.

On Sunday, roping will start at 10 a.m., #10 with #6 cap four for $50 with saddles to the high point header and heeler. That will be followed by #8 draw pot with #5 cap, $100 per amn. Saddles to high point header and heeler.

Also a saddle to high point header or heeler, 50 years or older for the weekend. All prizes are fully donated. No teams will be held for prizes. USTRC # will be used. Negative coggins required.

All proceeds go to the Maggie Schneider Memorial Scholarship Fund.

Texas Master Naturalist enrollment deadline

Are you a nature lover? Do you want to learn from experts and participate in educational training, exciting field trips, conservation efforts and much more with others who have a similar love of nature? If yes, then this is for you. Education and fun is guaranteed.

The El Camino Real Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists is planning a training class for new members starting on Oct. 4 and ending Feb. 7, with a break for Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The classes will be scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Fridays in Milano, with a few field trips. Some of these field trips may take place on a Saturday morning.
