Tiger sub-varsity perfect in openers

SALADO—The Rockdale sub varsity teams were perfect to open the season in wins over Salado.

The Tiger junior varsity made 16-14 third quarter lead hold up in its victory.

Andrew Perez kicked off the scoring with a 40-yard interception return for a touchdown and then connected with Lane Davenport for the extra point and an 8-0 lead.

Trailing 14- 8, Perez struck again with a 40-yard hookup with Christian Lara to tie the game.

Joey Montelongo hauled in the conversion from Perez for a 16-14 lead.

According to coaches, running back Chase Pickett, running back Montelongo and offensive lineman Kacey Waxler were the standouts.

On defense, linemen Laurence Baggerly and Travis Morgan and defensive back Fred Henderson (fumble recovery) were the leaders.

The freshmen busted out to a 30-0 halftime lead en route to a 38-0 victory.

Quarterback David Franklin had a hand in the Tigers’ first three scores.

Franklin passed to running back Davion Ford for the Tigers’ first touchdown.

Franklin then darted three yards to push Rockdale ahead 16-0 in the first quarter.

Franklin’s one-yard sneak put the Tigers ahead 22-0 and then after Marcos Gonzalez’ interception, running back Tynerrick Miles sprinted 36 yards for a score to make it 30-0 after Ford’s conversion run.

Their final score came in the third quarter when Ford broke free for a 91-yard touchdown scamper.

Tight end Gonzalez and linemen Alex Guzman and Dylan Prestridge had outstanding games on offense.

On defense, linemen Alex Guzman and Quentin White and defensive back Marcos Deleon were the leaders.
