Burn ban calls by deputies over (for now)

The Milam County Sheriff’s Department has been dealing with burn ban calls for several weeks but that’s over, at least temporarily.

County Judge Dave Barkemeyer lifted the rural outdoor burning ban on Monday after consultation with the county’s fire personnel.

Before the ban was lifted, deputies answered one call to a burn ban violation at 1:09 p.m. Thursday on County Road 335 near Rockdale and to a controlled burn at 10:47 a.m. Sept. 3 on County road 402 near Thorndale.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
