Plagens

Funeral services for Adolph Plagens, 88, will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Gregory Nichols officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Hugh Wilson Cemetery at Tanglewood.

Visitation is set for 6 to 8 p. m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the funeral home.

Mr. Plagens died Saturday, Sept. 7, at Brazos Valley Hospital in Bryan.

He was born May 17, 1925, in Kurten to Adolf and Lily ( Van Hood) Plagens.

Mr. Plagens was a World War II veteran, serving in the U.S. Navy.

He married Doris Reichardt on July 16, 1947, in Houston.

Mr. Plagens was a heavy duty mechanic with Brown & Root.

The Plagens moved to Tanglewood in 1978.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and enjoyed cattle ranching and dancing.

Mr. Plagens was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry, Ralph, Fred and Curtis Plagens; and a sister, Alma Veazey.

Survivors are his wife, Doris Plagens of Tanglewood; two sons, Mark Plagens and wife Pamela of Houston, Larry Plagens of Tanglewood; a brother, Raymond Plagens of Kurten; two sisters, Evelyn Williams of Round Top, Irene Gozney of Trinity; and two grandchildren, Laurel Plagens and Catherine Plagens, both of Houston.
