Flu clinics set for Rockdale, Milam venues

The Milam County Health Department has scheduled several flu shot clinics in upcoming weeks.

Rockdale’s clinic will be Oct. 4 at the KC Hall.

All clinics will be held from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

Flu shot clinics are scheduled as follows:

• Friday, Sept. 27, Bea’s Kitchen, Cameron.

• Friday, Oct. 4, Rockdale KC Hall.

• Tuesday, Oct. 8, Milano Civic Center (next to fire department).

• Friday, Oct. 11, Thorndale Senior Citizens Center.

“The flu vaccine will be given at no cost to people who have Medicare Part B,” Diane Leftwich, spokesperson for the Milam County Health Department, said. “Please bring your Medicare card.”

Cost to all other adults will be $20.

Food giveaway ahead Thursday

The monthly free surplus food giveaway is set for 9 a.m. Thursday (Sept. 19) at the KC Hall, according to Denise Sifuentes, coordinator.

She said clients are asked to bring sacks and boxes for the groceries and volunteers are needed.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
