The Big Blue Band from Tigerland was all decked out for the big occasion Friday at halftime of the “Battle of the Bell” at Tigerland Stadium. The eighth annual Kay Theatre Walk/Run/ Unrun will unreel Sept. 28, beginning at the theatre, corner of Main and Davilla downtown.

Cameron chase ends with tasing, charges
A chase in Cameron led to a tasing and an arrest on multiple charges Sept. 11.
Shannon Edward Varner, 31, of Cameron, was charged with evading arrest/detention and theft of property along with traffic and out-of-county offenses.
He remains in the county jail in lieu of $55,000 bond. Full Story
Written debit card pin number results in losses of $1,000
It’s a good idea to write down the pin number of your debit card. It’s just not a good idea to write it down on the card.
A Walmart customer found that out the hard way last week.
“She had written her pin number down on the debit card,” Lt. J. D. Newlin said. “Then she lost it, probably at Walmart.” Full Story
A storage shed was destroyed in a 9:25 p.m. fire Sept. 11 at 2004 Brazos.
Fire Chief Ward Roddam said there was no electric power to the shed and firefighters don’t know how the blaze started.
