Cameron chase ends with tasing, charges

A chase in Cameron led to a tasing and an arrest on multiple charges Sept. 11.

Shannon Edward Varner, 31, of Cameron, was charged with evading arrest/detention and theft of property along with traffic and out-of-county offenses.

He remains in the county jail in lieu of $55,000 bond.

Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said police tried to stop a vehicle, but the driver led officers to the area of Fourth and Glade where he fled on foot.

Dixon said the chase went across “multiple” streets and yards, the suspect refused to cooperate and was tased.
