Casarez

Funeral service for Natividad Zapata Casarez, 103, of Rockdale were held Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Rockdale. Father Ramon Frayna officiated.

Rosary was recited Monday, Sept. 16, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Casarez died Wednesday, Sept . 11, in Richards Memorial Hospital in Rockdale.

She was born on Christmas Day of 1909 in Castanos Coahuila, Mexico, to Dametrio and Dametria (Lumbreras) Zapata.

She lived all of her life in Rockdale and worked as a homemaker and field laborer.

Mrs. Casarez was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rockdale and enjoyed gardening and working in her f lower garden.

In 1936, she married Lucio Jimenez Casarez.

Mrs. Casarez was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Julia C. Contreras on May 18, 2011; two sisters, Epifania Aldama and Flaudia Zapata; and a brother, F.L. Zapata.

Survivors are two sons, Sabas Z. Cazarez of Grand Prairie, Carlos Zapata Casarez of Rockdale; and two daughters, Angelina Lopez of Rockdale, Christina Casarez Bustamante of Luling; also, 15 grandchildren, 43 great- grandchildren and numerous great- great- grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Dru Hettler, Arthur Boussart, Phillip Proctor, Cody Lopez, Henry Lopez and Carmen Lopez.
