It took just 40 minutes for the No. 6 Milano Lady Eagles to sweep district foe Buckholts on Tuesday night at Geneva Paceley Gym.

The Lady Eagles (20-4, 3- 0) won 25-2, 25-1, 25-6, with Halle McManess having 21 service points in the first game and Cashlyne Blake 19 service points in the second game.

Myka Morehead led the team with 13 kills, followed by Camille Messer with nine kills and two aces. Blake put up 18 assists and one dig and Naomi Graham added nine assists.

Keely LaGrone pounded out five kills, Kelly Wadlington one dig and McManess two aces.

The Lady Eagles also took down Bartlett in straight sets over the weekend, winning 25-5, 25-8, 25-4.

Messer led the way with 12 kills and a block, with Morehead complimenting with 11 kills, three digs and a block.

McManess added five kills and two digs, with LaGrone recording a kill, an ace and a dig.

Wadlington had one dig and Megan Pendergrass one ace.

Milano will host Granger on Saturday, followed by a road game to Holland on Tuesday.

Thorndale

The Thorndale Lady Dogs fell in straight sets on the road Tuesday night at No. 13 Thrall.

The Lady Dogs (4-14, 0-3) fell 16-25, 16-25, 18-25.

Emily Churchman led Thorndale’s effort with 12 kills and 11 digs, followed by Kailey Cargill with 10 kills and nine digs. Kamryn Holder put up 18 assists and two digs. Libero Peytyn O’Campo added 11 digs.

Emily Garza added four digs, three kills and a block assist and Savannah Driver had six digs. Madison Kropp had two digs and an assist, with Shelby Anders adding three digs and Meagan Cuba two digs.

On Saturday the Lady Dogs lost to Holland at Bulldog Gym in a five game marathon.

Thorndale took the first set 25-16, then fell 17-25. The Lady Dogs rebound and won the third game 25-23, before falling 19-25 in the fourth.

Holland would outlast Thorndale in the final set 16-14.

Churchman led the squad in the loss with 23 kills, 23 digs and five aces. Cargill added nine kills and 17 digs. Holder put up 23 assists and served four aces.

Driver had seven digs, six kills and three assists, with Garza getting seven digs and three kills.

Kropp added eight digs, Cuba seven digs and three aces, Anders fi ve d igs a nd O ’Campo 12 digs and three assists.

The Lady Dogs wi ll host Georgetown Gateway on Saturday and then travel to Granger on Tuesday to continue league play.
