Youth soccer games this weekend in Gause

The Gause soccer teams will be hosting the games this Saturday at the fields on the school grounds here in Gause. Games get underway around 8:15 a.m. The Gause 4-H Club will have a concession stand. The opening games in Cameron were postponed this past Saturday because of the wonderful rains.

They will be played at the end of the scheduled season. Come out and watch the youngsters if you have a few extra minutes. This activity in Gause is sponsored by the Gause ISD Parents Club and it involves volunteering time from many parents.

The high school that our grandchildren attend were scheduled for their Homecoming game last Friday night but the team from the Houston area they were to play canceled because of the weather. A real disappointed to the team especially the seniors of which a grandson is a member. They did have their Homecoming Dance Saturday night and I have to brag—grandson Connelly Cooper was crowned Homecoming king.

I am very sincere in saying that when you have a child or grandchild with an accomplishment please let me know so that you and I can brag on them in this column.

I hear of accomplishments but unless I hear it from a parent, grandparent or other close relatives I’m reluctant to print it.

Our sincere sympathy to the family of J. Lynn and Mary Grace at the loss of his mother. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Gause Full Gospel Church with burial in the family cemetery. Teresa and Keith McBee were in Houston on Tuesday for the funeral of Teresa’s aunt, Grace Pitts. Our sympathy to them also.

Received a call earlier this week that Gordan Currin has passed away. His parents and siblings lived here years ago. I say years ago because his younger brother Jack and I were in the same grade. Our sympathy to this family also.

Gause 4-H Club will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1 at the Gause ISD cafeteria. It is not too late to sign-up to be a member. Come to the meeting and find out what is happening in 4-H.

Gause Community Improvement will be meeting on Monday, Oct. 7. They will be making plans for the Annual CIP Christmas program and luncheon.

The Gause Junior High football team won their game against Coupland last week. They will play Immanuel Lutheran in Giddings at 5:30 p.m. Thursday. On Oct. 10 they will play at 5 p.m. in McDade.

The GJH volleyball girls will be in a tournament this Saturday in Westphalia. On Sept. 30, they will play at St. Joseph in Bryan. Good luck to all of our sports teams here in Gause.
