Homecoming activities this week in Tigerland

It’s homecoming week at Rockdale High School.

Activities include the annual homecoming parade on Wednesday, crowning of the 2013 RHS Homecoming Queen during Friday’s football game and a homecoming dance following the game.

PARADE—Time for Wednesday’s parade has been changed from the originally announced 5:30 p.m. to 6 p.m.

As has been the case in recent years, the parade won’t be on US 79 (Cameron Avenue) but will march westward down Bell Avenue from the downtown area.

The parade will form in the city parking lot behind The Reporter and the post office.

Here’s the route:

Begin at the stop sign in the 200 block of Bell Avenue.

West on Bell to the Rockdale VFD Fire Station at the corner of Bell and Wilcox.

Stop at the fire station for introductions and official judging.

West on Bell past the north side of the elementary campus to Bowser.

Right on Bowser. North on Bowser to Murray Avenue.

Left on Murray. West on Murray to Tiger Field parking lot where parade ends and float winners will be announced.

All four classes will enter f loats in the parade which will also feature homecoming queen nominees and princesses, football players, cheerleaders, the Golden Girls drill team, the RHS Big Blue Band and many more entries.

The 2013 homecoming queen will be crowned at halftime of the Rockdale-Hillsboro football game.

Following the game the annual homecoming dance will be held at Rockdale High School.

Advance tickets to the dance are priced at $2 in advance at the RHS office, and will be $4 at the door Friday.
