Lots going on this Saturday in The Rock
Kathy Cooke

Wow! How do you love these cooler fall temperatures? They make me happy, happy, happy.

October has arrived and this month’s activities keep us all busy, busy, busy.

There is a lot of things to do this Saturday in The Rock and surrounding areas. Just take your pick or pick several.

Rockdale Noon Lions will hold their 23rd annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament starting at 8:30 a.m. at Rockdale Country Club.

Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department is holding their Skeet Shoot Fundraiser, starting at noon, at Perry’s Pecan Patch on the river. Call Angelica at 512-446-2752 for more information.

Of course, we can not leave out the annual Rockdale Fair Children’s Pageant, which starts at 11 a.m. in the Rockdale High School auditorium.

The always popular Miss Rockdale Fair Queen Pageant is Saturday night, doors open at 7 p.m., also in RHS auditorium.

See pages 4B and 5B for well wishes to the contestants by their sponsors and families. A beautiful group of ladies, as always.

There is also a gorgeous color group photo of the ladies on page 8A.

Want to get an early start on your Christmas shopping and Christmas crafting? Head on down the road a short distance to Taylor for two events.

SPJST Assisted Living Community is hosting their annual “Christmas in October” shopping event and there will be lots of great items to help get your Christmas shopping done.

Also in Taylor, E-Jays Fabrics is holding their Grand Opening in their new location on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Their new location is at 220 East 4th Street in Taylor, on the left as you are coming into Taylor from Rockdale.

Rockdale 4-H Club is collecting items for care packages for soldiers and they will be in front of Rockdale Walmart 9 a.m. until noon on Saturday.

La Escuelita will hold their annual fall cookoff on Saturday on the La Escuelita grounds.

Rockdale KC Hall will host their monthly Super Bingo on Saturday with doors opening at 6 p.m. and games beginning at 7 p.m. on Hwy 79 East.
