Reporter/Teresa Ging Reporter/Teresa Ging Wilde selected to Baylor Student Foundation

WACO—Annie Wilde, of Rockdale, has been selected to serve as a member of Baylor University’s Student Foundation. Only 100 of the university’s students are selected for this group that builds community-minded servant leaders by entrusting students with recruiting qualified students, raising scholarship funds and building goodwill among alumni and students.

During Student Foundation’s over 40 years on campus, the organization has awarded more than $5.2 million in scholarship money, helping almost 5,900 students.

Band boosters Pizza Hut fund raiser Oct. 17

Rockdale Band Boosters will hold a fund raiser from 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 17 at the Rockdale Pizza Hut, 1212 W. Cameron Ave.

The group will make proceeds off orders that are made at the restaurant during that time.

Thorndale royalty

Ray Stewart and Bailey Shepard were named Thorndale High School 2013 homecoming king and queen on Friday. Stewart is the son of John and Tanya Stewart. Shepard is the daughter of Chris and Annette Shepard. The homecoming king was announced during the homecoming pep rally on Friday afternoon. The homecoming queen was announced during halftime ceremonies at Friday’s Bulldog football game.
