With the Rockdale Fair moving closer to becoming a week-long affair, there are several events, and some big changes, coming up beginning Saturday.

La Escuelita cookoff ahead on Saturday
The annual Fall Cookoff at La Escuelita, former Hispanic school east of the KC Hall on US 79, is set for Saturday.
Dee Lerma, spokesperson, said the cookoff will feature menudo, chili and beef/chicken/pork categories.
While the cookoff begins at 8 a.m. Oct. 12, cookers can set up the night before or by 7:30 a.m. on the day of competition.
