‘Smelly’ jobs not best for Rockdale economy

Dear editor,

Rockdale has an industrial complex north of Town where the prevailing winds are out of the south blowing any smells away from the town.

The only time it would not was during a norther several times a year.

Let’s use common sense in the location of jobs to Milam County. If the only aspect is jobs, why not put a nuclear reactor at the old Alcoa plant.

Open a lead battery recycling plant nearby. Run the Keystone Pipeline through Milam County,

Bring back the Supercollider, or Perry’s corridor of super roads, power lines, and pipelines.

Putting a smelly hog slaughtering facility south of town, where the prevailing winds will be from the south over 330 days of the year makes no sense.

Stop thinking just about jobs and think about your neighbors instead.

Yes we need jobs but not at the expense of our quality of life.
