Milano Opry set to hit MHS stage Saturday

The Milano Opry will hold its monthly performance Saturday, Oct. 19 at Milano High School. Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7. Admission is $7, children 10 and under are free. Go early and grab a bite to eat, as they will have barbecue sandwiches and hamburgers for sale, as well as their famous homemade pies.

Guests for this month are Will Fountain, A.T. Shuffield and Michelle Swanson. House band members are Billy Barnett, Michael Herod, Michael Wall, Ricky Blagg, Johnny Foster, Lynn Martin and Donny White as emcee.

Milano ISD will host a Title I Parent Compact meeting at 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 21. The meeting will be held in the elementary cafeteria and all parents are encouraged to attend.

The Milano High School One- Act Play production class will present its fall show “10 Ways to Avoid the Zombie Apocalypse” by Don Zolidis for a one time only performance. The curtain will go up at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at the MHS cafetorium. Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.

There will be a silent auction on display before the show and a few minutes after. The proceeds of the auction go to support the group’s OAP competition shown in the spring and awards for the group’s graduating seniors.

“ Team Tammy,” a Relay For Life team from Milano, will host a costume party and dance Thursday, Oct. 31 at the Milano Civic Center, 400 W. Avenue E in downtown Milano.

The team will offer dinner while trick-or-treating, offering hot dog meals for sale (two hot dogs, chips and drink for $5) starting at 5 p.m. at the civic center. Admission for the dance is $3 per person, with ages three and under getting in free.

Costume contest at 8 p.m. Age divisions: 5 and under, 6-12, 13 and up (including adults). Prizes for top male and female in each division. A silent auction will also be held. Milano Elementary School has set the date for its fall festival for 4-6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 1.

Picture retakes for Milano ISD will be taken the morning of Wednesday, Nov. 6. All elementary pictures re-takes will be done in the library first and then move over the high school. Please contact Mindy Miller at mmiller@milanoisd.net if you have any questions or concerns.
