Traffic stop, call to housing units net drug arrests
Three drug arrests were made during the past week by Rockdale police.
Lt J. D. Newlin said a traffic stop at 3:15 p.m. Thursday led to the arrests of John D. Johnson, 32, and Stephen Vance, 35, both of Rockdale.
Both were charged with possession of a controlled substance (1 to 4 grams) and tampering with physical evidence. Full Story
North Milam on lookout for area fugitive
Officers in the Cameron area were Alerted early this week that a 33-year-old man wanted on several offenses in the Waco area was believed to be in Milam County.
Cameron Police Chief Randy Dixon said a tip from Waco CrimeStoppers indicated Marvin Kenneth Keith was in the Cameron area. Full Story
Kids climbing on a fire truck happened many times last week as the Rockdale Volunteer Fire Department rolled out all the stops for National Fire Prevention Week. Eight draw sentences in 20th District Court
CAMERON—Eight persons drew sentences last week in 20th District Court. Prosecutor Bill Torrey listed case dispositions as follows:
• Daphanie Nicole Spiers, 22, Cameron, pleaded true to a motion to revoke probation on an original charge of theft (under $1,500) with priors, 11-month state jail term. Full Story
Burn ban remains off in Milam County
CAMERON—Milam County commissioners’ October review of whether to reimpose an outdoor burning ban turned out to be a no-brainer.
A series of good rains, with more expected later this week, enabled commissioners to leave the burn ban off during their meeting in the county courthouse Tuesday. Full Story
