Eighth graders blank Bellville
THURSDAY: The junior varsity/ freshman team will host Madisonville at 5:30 p.m. The junior high Tigers will travel to Madisonville, with the first game starting at 4:30 p.m. The 7B, 7A teams will play first, followed by 8A.
The Rockdale junior varsity’s comeback bid fell short in a 20-6 loss to Taylor.
The Tigers (2- 5) allowed three running touchdowns to the Ducks and countered with Andrew Perez’ eight-yard touchdown pass to Chase Pickett in the third quarter.
According to coaches, Perez, receiver Lane Davenport, receiver Christian Lara, running back Tynerrick Miles, lineman Travis Morgan, defensive back Zach Zoeller and lineman Kacey Waxler were the standouts.
The Tigers (3-1) constructed a 20-0 halftime lead and added a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter for the rout.
Crawford broke off a 70-yard scoring run (set up by an Angel Banda fumble recovery) in the first quarter and followed that with a 73-yard score in the second quarter and then returned a kickoff 70 yards for another score.
The defense set up another score as J.R. Hinojosa pounced on a loose ball on the ensuing kickoff after Crawford’s first score and quarterback Gunner Miller found Tyler Lehmkuhl for a 54-yard aerial.
Miller and Lehmkuhl connected again in the third quarter, this time from 55 yards out.
Brajon Ayala closed out the scoring with a 30-yard run from scrimmage.
Coaches said Banda, Hinojosa, Patrick Dean, Cesar Gonzalez, Marcos Guiterrez, Justin Nelson and Jack Ingram turned in outstanding games.
8B–The Tigers were shutout 24-0 by Bellville.
Marvin Wyatt, Bradley Bailey, Martin Guiterrez (25-yard run), Saul Salazar and Hunter Lehmann were the leaders for the Tigers (0-5).
The Tigers were blanked by Bellville 24-0.
Cayden McBride, Ryker Zinn, Arlando Ayala, Austin Flores and Wren Crane turned in outstanding games for the Tigers (1-4).
7B—Nathan Bailey’s 70-yard touchdown run was the highlight in the Tigers 16-6 loss to Bellville.
Nathan Bailey, Danny Loera, Hunter Vance, Josh Davenport, Luke Parsley and Joe Vega led the way for the Tigers (3-2).
