Tree expansion at Milano Junction Memorial Garden
The El Camino Real Chapter of Texas Master Naturalist have ‘expanded their wings’ again by successfully creating a beautiful Flowering Tree Garden in the Milano Junction Memorial Garden, located next to the Milano Post Office.
This endeavor is in support to the Bailey Bank Building project and enhances the Monarch Butterfly Garden which was created earlier this year.
Several people in the community and local area organizations created a newly planted Flowering Tree Garden, as well as took a few minutes to admire the Monarchs flying around. Right now, those beautiful Monarchs are making their way south to Central Mexico which is their winter home. but they will be back again in the Spring.
In our new Flowering Tree Garden, there are many beautiful young Dogwood trees, donated by Alcoa, a large Crate Myrtle, donated by the Fluer de Lis Garden Club in Cameron, and several Redbud and Crape Myrtles which were donated by dedicated community members. All these trees will bring shelter to various pollinators and birds, as well as wonderful colors and beauty to the garden, as they “spreads their roots” and grow larger.
