Ray Price tribute CD to be released

Local songwr iter Randy Brown is in charge of a tribute CD to the great Ray Price that is being released the end of this month by Singer Songwriter Ray Sanders.

The CD will be on Hillside Records, a traditional Country music record label that has been in business for over 40 years.

Ray Sanders was a member of Price’s band from 1959-1961 singing with him on “Heartaches By The Number,” “Under Your Spell Again” and “Who’ll Be The First” and also went on to score 14 Billboard charted hits of his own including three top 20 and six top 40. He also won the ACM Most Promising New Male Singer Award for the year of 1968.

He is probably most remembered for his hit song “ Beer Drinkin Music” which was a top 10 hit in Cash Box and No. 22 on Billboard. Sanders also won an ASCAP award for his hit song “All I Ever Need Is You” which stayed on the charts for 16 straight weeks in 1971.
