SPLASH! GABRIEL, BRUSHY OUT FRIDAY

SPLASH! BRUSHY, GABRIEL OUT

Even though Rockdale received just under a half-inch of rain in the storms that wreaked havoc on the Austin area, the effects are being felt not too far from town.

Brushy Creek and the San Gabriel River were out of their banks Friday morning as water from rainfalls that measured almost a foot in Travis and Williamson counties worked its way downstream.

As of Friday afternoon, FM 908 was closed at Brushy Creek and FM 487 at the San Gabriel. Both were expected to crest Friday and recede over the weekend. This photo shows water completely over a five-strand fence just south of the FM 908 Brushy Creek Bridge.
