RHS chapter does well at Fair

On Oct. 17-19 30 Rockdale students attended the 38th annual Rockdale Fair and Rodeo. On Wednesday, Fred Henderson and Travis Morgan competed in the pig scramble. Thursday many students in Milam County came out to the fairgrounds to get ready to show and weigh in. Thursday evening we kicked the weekend off by showing broilers, turkeys and lambs. Kaybee Nelson placed 19th in broilers and Samantha Muston placed 20th and 21st in broilers. Erin Free placed 21st and 26th in turkeys. Brody Debault placed 18th in turkeys.

Friday morning started off by showing rabbits and swine. Katelyn Tarver placed 12th and Cody Mynar placed 19th in rabbits. Justin Offield placed sixth, Fred Henderson placed seventh and Carson Offield placed 12th in swine. Kaden Roberts placed eighth in goats. In commercial heifers, we had Garrett Poundes place sixth, Wesley Payne placed ninth, Travis Morgan placed 12th, Morgen Pounders placed 16th and Carlee Morgan placed 23rd.

Rockdale pulled out some great wins also. Koy Quinney won grand champion in Swine. Mason Nusbaum won grand champoin for his folding picnic table in Ag Mechanics. Jake Parsley won reserve grand champion for his Truck mounted wildlife harvesting station in Ag Mechanics. The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
