Eagles’ playoff hopes in own hands after grinding Granger
Millar makes mincemeat out of Lions with 300 yards on the ground
MILANO—The Milano Eagles put up 448 yards of total offense and overcame four turnovers to defeat the Granger Lions 32-20 on Friday night at Pruett Field in a key District 13A-II match up.
The Eagles’ (6-2, 2-1) playoff hopes are now in their own hands as they can only afford to lose just one of their last two district games and still reach the postseason. Full Story
Thorndale boys run away with district cross country crown
Thorndale girls, Milano boys and girls also qualify for regionals
There will be a large contingency of Milam County runners at the Class A Region IV cross country meet on Saturday at the National Shooting Course in San Antonio. Both boys and girls varsity teams from Thorndale and Milano and qualified for the event.
They did so at the District 27A meet held Oct. 21 at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock. Full Story
Thorndale clinches berth; Thrall handles Lady Eagles
Spike playoffs get underway in earnest next week
The Thorndale Lady Dogs clinched a postseason berth with a “play in” victory at Holland on Tuesday.
The two teams were tied for the third place spot in District 16A and had to play each other with the winner going to the playoffs and the loser’s season coming to an end.
The Lady Dogs (14-16, 10-5) won 25-16, 18-25, 25-17, 26-24. Full Story
Tiger eighth graders battle for tie
THURSDAY: The Tigers junior high teams will host Fairfield for two games beginning at 5 p.m.
The Rockdale junior varsity fell to Navasota, while the eight graders had to settle for a 36-36 tie. Full Story
