Hargrove


Mr. Hargrove Mr. Hargrove Funeral services for Clyde L. Hargrove, 74, of Sharp were held Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home. Burial followed in Sharp Cemetery. Gary Jackson of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale officiated.

Mr . Ha r - grove died Wednesday, Oct. 30, at his home in Sharp.

He was born Jan. 31, 1939, at the Yoakum home place near Milano to Alonzo Lilburn and Faye Delle (Yoakum) Hargrove.

Mr. Hargrove lived his entire life in Sharp, where he was a graduate of Sharp High School. He attended two years of college at Southwest Texas Teachers College in San Marcos and Temple Jr. College.

On May 1, 1960, he married Barbara Rosenthal in Bryan.

Mr. Hargrove was a farmer and had worked 30 years with Alcoa in the rodding room and custodial department before his retirement in 2003.

He was a member of Murray Street Church of Christ in Rockdale, the Alcoa Retirees Club, United Steelworkers, president of Sharp Cemetery Association and a member of Temple Early Day Tractor Association.

Mr. Hargrove was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Dorothy Hargrove Jenkins, on March 27, 2011; a brother-in-law, Dan Jenkins, on March 27, 2011; and a nephew, Jake Shay Jenkins, also on March 27, 2011.

Surviving are his wife, Barbara Hargrove of Sharp; a son, Clyde Hargrove Jr. and wife Gwyn of Sharp; a daughter, Tammy Hargrove Smith and husband Larry of Flower Mound; and a granddaughter, Miranda Faye Smith.

Pallbearers were Carl Moody, Glen Mauldin, Carroll Modesette, Julius Weidner, Lamar Closs and John Pollock.

Honorary pallbearers were Billy Bland, Cole Yoakum, Walter Wentzel, Grant Mauldin, Doug Williams, Travis Yoakum, Charles Schwartz, Barkley Garner and Charlie Pohorelsky.
