Unemployment numbers delayed due to government shutdown
AUSTIN—As a result of the federal government shutdown, the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) has announced that Texas labor market data, including the total nonfarm jobs and the unemployment rates for September and October, will be released Nov. 22.
Due to a lapse in federal funding, the U. S Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data collection, analysis and dissemination activities were suspended from Oct. 1 through Oct. 16, according to a press release sent from TWC. This also affected state data collection, since TWC produces state economic data in cooperation with the BLS.
The federal shutdown has also caused a delay in the release of corresponding national economic figures, BLS officials announced last month.
