Baird Baird RISD mandatory substitute training

A mandatory training for all new Rockdale ISD substitute teachers will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 14 at the Rockdale ISD Conference Room.

This training will include processes for the automated substitute service system Rockdale ISD has implemented.

Individuals interested in becoming substitute teachers must attend this training in order to qualify for the substitute list. Applicants must possess a high school diploma or equivalent and provide consent to a criminal background check.

Substitute applications can be picked up at the RISD Central Office prior to the training.

Baird named new Thorndale principal

THORNDALE—Paul Baird has been named the new high school/junior high principal at Thorndale ISD, according to TISD superintendent Dr. Craig Spinn.

Bai rd, who’s most recent position has been as an assistant principal in the Hutto ISD, will replace Hank Laywell at TISD. Baird’s first day on the job is set for Nov. 25.

Baird is a graduate of Round Rock High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Angelo State University.

He has been married to his wife Korey for 14 years and they have two sons, Konnor and Kannon.

Thorndale PTO sets Holiday Bazaar Nov. 16

THORNDALE—Thorndale Elementary PTO will hold a Holiday Bazaar from 10 a..m to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 16 at the school, according to PTO president Krystal Vickers.

“We will have vendors setting up their products to sell. There will be many game booths along with food vendors and snacks. Fun for the whole family and it is open to the public,” Vickers said.
