2010 rivals in GOP primary; 12 already file for ballot
Milam County’s 2014 Republican Primary will be a repeat of the 2010 general election.

Supreme Court nixes Milam inmate’s appeal
Nine-count felon said county couldn’t take trust account for fine
The Texas Supreme Court on Friday refused to hear the appeal of a Milam County man who was arrested for shooting his estranged wife and a Cameron man in 2011, among other offenses.
But Jasper Canady England, 42, wasn’t complaining about the sentences. He didn’t want to pay nine sets of court costs out of his inmates trust account. Full Story
Roundup and Brown Santa efforts begin
Christmas Roundup, the giant Rockdale-area Christmas cheer project which last year served over 1,000 people, is gearing up for its 2013 effort.
And the county-wide Brown Santa program is also accepting nominations for children to be served. Full Story
If—and that’s a big ‘if” with bad weather forecast— weather conditions allow, temporary moving of the 102-year-old Worley Bridge could be this week on County Road 428. Plans are to move the landmark bridge into an adjacent field, strengthen supports on the bridge structure, then move it back for light vehicular traffic. Full Story
