Mr. Burgess Mr. Burgess Funeral services for Woodrow “ Woody” Burgess Jr., 79, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with bur ial in the Forest Grove Cemetery in the Forest Grove community. Pastor James Diamond of Cedar Crest Christian Church in Sulphur Springs, Pastor Lance Walch and Jim Platt of Forest Grove Christian Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale.

Mr. Burgess died Sunday, Nov. 10, in Winnie L. Nursing & Rehabilitation in Cameron.

He was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Milano to Mittie Ann (Haddox) and Woodrow W. Burgess Sr.

They lived in Milano until he finished the second grade, then they moved to Rockdale. He was a lifelong resident of Rockdale and the area, and lived the past 35 years in Forest Grove.

Mr. Burgess was a 1953 graduate of Rockdale High School, served in the U. S. Army, and was a member of Forest Grove Christian Church.

He worked in the anode production department at Alcoa retiring in 1993 after 30 years.

Mr. Burgess enjoyed gardening, ranching, woodwork and fishing.

On May 25, 1957, he married Mary Elizabeth Owens in Rockdale.

Mr. Burgess was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors are his wife, Mary Burgess of Forest Grove; two sons, Stanley Burgess and wife Theresa of Milano, Troy Burgess of Dallas; a brother, Jimmy Burgess and wife Delanie of Cameron; three sisters, Jo Ann Coldiron and husband Bobby of Milano, Patricia Lou Moody and husband Harry of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Vivian Collier and husband John of Rockdale; three grandchildren, Huston Burgess of Milano, Amber Brooks and husband J.C. of Rockdale, Meagan Brantley and husband Cyler of Milano; and two great-grandchildren,

Hadley Brooks and Hunter Brantley.
