SWEPT AWAY—You may have noticed something new on city streets in the past couple of weeks. The City of Rockdale has rented a street sweeper for the month of November, according to City Manager Kelvin Knauf. The sweeper is working in all areas of town to sweep away dirt and debris that’s collected along curbs and gutters. This view catches the sweeper working at the corner of Alcoa and Palmer.

CAMERON—The Texas A&M Agrilife Extension Service– Milam County Office will hold its annual Milam County Pecan Show at 10 a.m. Nov. 21.

Individuals interested in entering pecans to be evaluated should bring in a sample of 42 nuts in a labeled bag. There is no cost to enter and you can enter as many varieties as you would like, but only one entry per variety. There are three categories: commercial, classic and native. Have the entries to the extension office at 100 E. 1st Street in Cameron by noon Nov. 21.

Advancing entries will be judged in December at the Regional Pecan Show in Brenham. Entries advancing from the regional show will be evaluated at the State Pecan Growers Meeting in July.
