DPS deals with more deer

Two of the three calls to South Milam County traffic crashes during the past week for Department of Public Safety state troopers also dealt with deer.

Trooper Ernest DelBosque was called to an 8:10 p.m. Monday accident on US 79 east of Thorndale.

DelBosque said a deer in the highway caused a driver to crash, with the vehicle sustaining moderate damages.

Driver was listed as Cne’ Schneider, 33, of Austin.

A similar accident was investigated at 3:15 a.m. Friday on County Road 434.

Falls County Trooper Stephen Jeter said a vehicle driven by James Morton, 22, of Rockdale, crashed after swerving off the county road to avoid a deer in the roadway.

Damages were termed extensive and no injuries were reported.

Moderate damages, and no injuries, were reported in a 2:50 a.m. Friday crash on US 79, east of County Road 352, according to Jeter.

He listed the driver as Lynda Herndon, 69, of Hearne.
