Shields

Funeral services for Edward Shields, 50, formerly of Rockdale, were held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale. Burial was in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mr. Shields died Sunday, Nov. 10, in Scott & White Hospital in Temple.

He was born April 17, 1963, in Rockdale to Dillard and Ollie Jewel (Johnson) Shields.

Mr. Shields was a graduate of Rockdale High School.

He had lived in Temple the past 10 years, having moved there from Austin.

For the past five years, he worked in construction for Reinforcing Steel Supply.

Mr. Shields was preceded in death by his parents.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Shields Jr. of Fort Polk, Louisiana, Lance Edrick Shields of Rockdale; a daughter, Brittney Shields of Fort Waynewright, Alaska; a sister, Charlie Mae Miller of Rockdale; special friend, Melissa Mandrell of Temple; and three grandchildren, Kaylin Shields, Amaya Shields and Kylie Shields.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
