TACC plans lot lighting, Christmas parade
The Thorndale Area Chamber of Commerce met for their monthly meeting on Nov. 20 to finalize plans for the Christmas lot lighting ceremony and their annual Christmas parade.
The Christmas lot lighting committee, under the direction of Marilyn Johnson, has been busy preparing the lot next to the Thorndale Post Office and Mercedes Beans for the many displays which will light the way for the Christmas season in Thorndale. The lighting ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 1.
Come join this kickoff to the holidays and celebrate with our community. Santa will be on hand to take orders for special holiday presents for all the children in Thorndale. The Thorndale 4-H will provide refreshments and the Communities in Concert Band will help with Christmas carol singing.
If your organization or business would like to add a display, contact Marilyn Johnson at 512-862-4419 for a spot for your display. It is not too late for your display; the more the merrier. The TACC looks forward to sharing this special event with all citizens in the Thorndale area.
Co-Chairs Donna Harris and Deana Caffey are busy making plans for the 2013 Christmas Parade set for 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7 in downtown Thorndale. Our Grand Marshall for this year is our 2012 Citizen of the Year Charlene Olbrich. Mark your calendar and begin now to plan your entry in the parade for your club, your church or just an entry on your own. Contact Donna at 512-898-2427 or Deana at 512- 468-3500 for more information on the parade. We look forward to receiving entries from all areas.
The day will also include another visit from Santa and he is planning on taking a photo with all the little tykes in Thorndale and taking orders for the special presents needed under the Christmas trees in the area. He would like to have a photo of your little one so he can keep everything straight on Christmas Eve.
Come join the fun with the downtown booths and all the businesses in Thorndale and find just the right gifts for all the special people on your list. Contact Susan Drabek at 512-269-8796 for more information on booths, which are $25 each. Spaces are going fast.
And don’t forget the silent auction sponsored by the TACC. Call Darleen Tucker at 512-898-2727 if you would like to make a donation. Browse the silent auction located in the TACC building in downtown Thorndale for more gifts for the season. We encourage all businesses, clubs and individuals to support this event.
In addition, the ham giveaway will be located in the TACC building on the day of the parade. Come by and register on Saturday as the drawing will be held immediately following the parade. However, ham giveaway boxes will be located in businesses in town beginning the week after Thanksgiving for your convenience in registering. Stop by our local merchants and check out their merchandise. The TACC encourages you to shop locally for the holidays. While you are browsing, register for a delicious ham.
The TACC would like to invite you to join the chamber so you can help us bring these family-friendly events to Thorndale. We take individual memberships as well as business memberships. Please call Brian Morton at 512-658-5378 or Darleen Tucker at 512-898-2727 if you would like to join the chamber. Membership forms are also located on our website: thorndaletx.com.
The next meeting of the TACC will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 18 and visitors are always welcome.
